NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu while extending his warm greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of Holi and Ugadi said that it’s time to bring a colour of positivity in the lives of all the people in the country.
He stated that under the leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his ministry is stead fasting the reformation process in Indian Railways aggressively. While stating that improving the travel experience for fellow citizens is at the core of his work, he stress utmost importance to enhancing safety, creating new passenger amenities, augmenting infrastructure, introduction of new train products like Humsafar, Antyodaya etc which shows his Ministry’s commitment to achieve the budget announcements. He said that his Ministry is taking bigger targets because there is a huge historical backlog and hence are trying to reform Railways significantly. The reforms in the Freight sector are unprecedented despite the challenges of declining freight traffic, he said and these reforms have started showing green shoots and will help in regaining the momentum. He also conveyed that the works of Station Redevelopment Program to build world class Railway stations with state-of-art amenities has already been started. While stressing the importance of energy efficiency, the Minister said that his Ministry is trying to save a significant amount by energy conservation and switching on to other viable and renewable sources of energy.
He expressed his deep anguish about the recent subversive activities on trains beyond words. However, he said that the ministry is constantly viewing the situation and have tightened security to provide a safer journey to passengers over Indian Railways and said that he is determined to address the issues.
While seeking fellow citizens support in taking Indian Railways to the next level and benchmark it with the best in the world, he once again extended his warm greetings to everyone.
