Mumbai: On the occasion of Women’s day on Saturday, March 8, police commissioner Rakesh Maria will launch a web registration service, through SMS, for women traveling in taxis and autorickshaws. The launch will take place at 11.15am at Prerna Hall of the Police Club.
The commissioner will also be releasing a handbook on empowering women to fight crime. 5000 copies of the book will be rolled out in the first phase and they will be distributed in police stations and NGOs. It is in English as well as Marathi.
The GRP has arranged a separate program for Women’s day at the RPF quarters, located behind Swaminarayan temple in Dadar East. Speakers will address the audience on women commuters’ issues and using martial arts for self defence.
