Railways to expedite projects in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala state Chief Secretary Mr.E.K.Bharat Bhushan on Thursday convened a high-level meeting in connection with land acquisition for railway projects, including construction of railway over bridges (ROBs), track doubling and a proposed wagon factory in Cherthala.

The meeting, convened at the state chief secretary’s committee hall, was attended by railway authorities led by Mr.Rajesh Agrawal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Thiruvananthapuram and collectors from various districts.

The DRM informed the state chief secretary that 31 ROBs were sanctioned for Thiruvananthapuram division and 12 of them are under construction. He also assured that the railways will do everything possible to begin railway projects announced for the state and complete them in a time bound manner.

Officers who attended the meeting said that the state chief secretary termed railways as the most important service provider for Kerala. He also promised that the state government would provide all necessary assistance to the railway authorities in carrying out developmental activities.

The meeting was attended by Jaykumar, chief engineer (construction), Ernakulam, Jyothilal, secretary-general administration and senior officials from Cochin port trust, public works department, transport department and National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC).
