GMs of SECR and CR conduct joint inspection of Kalamna-Godhni chord line

Nagpur (NGP): The South East Central Railway (SECR) and Central Railway Nagpur divisions have decided to expedite the work on 13.7km Kalamna-Godhni chord line.

The Rs.53 crore project will basically be for freight trains and specially coal rakes coming from east direction and going to north and some emptying at Koradi power plant. On Sunday morning, both SECR General Manager Navin Tandon and Central Railway’s SK Sood conducted a site visit to review the facts. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of SECR Alok Kansal and Central Railway’s OP Singh were also present.

Of the 13.7km, work on around 5km line is with the Central Railway and remaining is with the SECR. Last year, the crucial project received Rs.18 crore and this year another Rs.10 crore. “The chord line will be sort of a bypass to avoid city. Freight trains from east-north direction will not reach city after the line is commissioned,” said officials.
