Railways to pay harassed passenger

The Ernakulam Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has ordered the Railways to pay compensation of Rs 50,000 to a passenger who was forced to travel in a dingy and unclean third class coach instead of the originally-booked second class A/C compartment.

The complaint was registered against the Southern Railway and Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd by Vimal M Mehta.

The order shall be complied with within 30 days from the date of receipt of a copy of the order.
