New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Rajiv Ranjan Verma was today appointed as Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Railways for appointment of Shri Rajiv Ranjan Verma, IPS, as the Director General, Railway Protection Force, Ministry of Railways, Railway Board for a period upto the date of his superannuation i.e. 29.02.2016 from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Verma, a 1978 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre (BH:78), is presently working as the Director General of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
He has been appointed for a period upto the date of his superannuation, i.e. February 29, 2016, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.
The RPF is mainly responsible for looking after security of railways passengers.
