Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon to be closed for 2 Hours on Sunday for Formal Launch

GURGAON (GGN): Rapid Metro will be closed for public on Sunday for two hours from 10 am to noon for its formal inauguration by Haryana Chief inister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

The service was inaugurated ‘informally’ on November 14. At the time, the authorities had said a formal inauguration would be done by a ‘national leader’ after the assembly elections.

There were indications that the CM wanted UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to formally inaugurate the project – India’s first privately-built metro. However, Congress’ drubbing in the elections seems to have upset the plan.

The inauguration will be held at Sikanderpur Metro Station, which connects the network with the Delhi Metro.

Meanwhile, the DLF Phase III station of Rapid Metro played host to a mini ‘Gliterarti’ on Friday as 10 city-based painters displayed their works at the venue and school children from St PBN presented the song ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ in support of Nirbhaya. Twenty underprivileged students of Happy School also enjoyed a ride on the train.
