Ratlam Jn (RTM): The first DMU train started plying out on the newly converted Ratlam-Fatehabad track on Saturday morning. Out of 3 DMU trains, the first one rolled out on new broadgauge (BG) track at 7.10 am. Due to imposition of Model Code of Conduct, a simple function held to inaugurate the train movement. Senior pointsman Mohammed Ilias, who is retiring on March 31, flagged off the train at Ratlam railway station.
People welcomed the train at various stops. Happiness appeared on the passenger’s faces particularly the rural passengers who were cut from the rail connectivity since last almost 15 months period. In the first run of the train as many as 927 passengers travelled between Ratlam to Fatehabad.
Ratlam division received the orders for the running of the train services on Ratlam-Fatehabad route only yesterday after clearance from the Election Commission. Since Ratlam division was fully prepared to run the train services hence it took no time in commencing the train operations.

However the passengers of Indore will have to wait for another six months to reach this train up to city railway station, because the gauge conversion work between Fatehabad to Indore stations is still going on.
