Rinkesh Roy IRTS, chosen as Chairman, Paradip Port Trust

Paradip: 1992-batch Indian Railways Traffic Services cadre officer Rinkesh Roy has been chosen as the new Chairman of the Paradip Port Trust (PPT). A notification in this regard was issued by the Union Ministry of Shipping in New Delhi on Wednesday.

This has brought the curtains down on the topic of who would head this Major Port of the country.

The earlier PPT Chairman was transferred in January this year, and since then, the post was handled by the Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Port as an additional responsibility.

Prior to this, Roy has held several important assignments, including Director of Coal in the Railway Board and Chief Freight Traffic Manager of the East Coast Railway.

He is the winner of the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Fellowship, 2013 and holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the prestigious Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA.

After graduating in Economics, Mr Roy had joined the Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1992.

He has worked in various capacities in the operations Department of the erstwhile South Eastern Railway. Mr.Roy has also worked as Director/Planning in Railway Board.

Roy is the son of Ajit Roy, a former Engineer-in-Chief of the Irrigation Department in Government of Odisha. His mother Shakuntala Roy is an award-winning famous Odia filmmaker.
