Russian Railways starts Express Box Service

Russian Railways has launched a new regular express box train service, the Trans-Siberian Railway in 7 Days, in cooperation with OJSC TransContainer, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, and the Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company, part of the Global Ports Group.

The 1st rail with a length of 71 conventional wagons was loaded at the Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company’s terminal and shipped from Nakhodka – Vostochnaya on May 1, 2013 to the Moscow – Tovarnaya – Paveletskaya station, where it arrived on 8 May.

The present fast box service takes 11-14 days to get to Moscow, while shipping boxes on the Trans-Siberian takes up to 20 days under normal conditions.
