He also instructed DRM to take necessary steps to upgrade the facilities that are needed to be completed before the commencement of Pushkarams as Vijayawada Division is lagging behind in the schedules in various passenger amenity works to cater to large scale footfall of huge pilgrim passengers. He instructed DRM to expedite the works immediately and proceeded to Rajahmundry, where he will stay till the end of Godavari Pushkarams acting as a liaison between Indian Railways and the State Government on behalf of Railways.
According to sources, he will coordinate with state government officials pertaining to railway services, clearance of rush, availability of tickets and special shuttle and trains services. As lakhs of pilgrims are expected to visit Rajahmundry, Godavari and Kovvuru stations, where pushkar ghats are located, Railways will have to play a vital role in safe transportation of the devotees. Vijayawada Division arranged a makeshift accommodation for him who will use the premises as special office in Rajahmundry.
