Sandeep Semwal case: Court to hear Railway cops’ plea on Dec 10

Thane (TNA): The Kalyan sessions court will hear the plea of the railway police to arrest Ravi Gharat, accused of assaulting banker Sandeep Semwal, on December 10.

On Tuesday, the police had asked for cancellation of Gharat’s relief and that they be granted his custody. Gharat’s lawyers, however, raised technical issues about the delay in registration of the FIR. “The court, on Thursday, heard the arguments made by the defense lawyer and gave another date to present the case. We have been called on December 10,” said SPI D D Wadmare of the railway crime branch.

Gharat is accused of shooting Semwal to seek vengeance against the latter’s sister whom he was stalking for over two years.

The police zeroed in on Gharat as the suspect following a statement from Semwal’s sister who reportedly confirmed to the police that he was stalking her. Immediately after the firing incident, Gharat reportedly went absconding and subsequently secured interim relief from the court against his arrest in the case.
