As the authorised agent of YTSK, Sanjay Tours started selling rail tickets at its office from April 1, 2015. The counter issues Regular tickets from 9 am to 10 pm, and Tatkal tickets between 11 am to 10 pm. Sanjay Paithankar, Proprietor, Sanjay Tours & Travels, said, “We take Rs 30 per person as service charge for a Second Class ticket and Rs 40 as for an AC ticket. The government Service Tax is levied extra. Therefore, approximately Rs 35 is charged on a Second Class ticket and Rs 45 on an AC ticket, per person.”
Established in 1997, Sanjay Tours & Travels specialises in domestic tour packages to traditional destinations across India. The company also offers services like rail, air and hotel bookings, and visa and passport assistance. Sanjay Tours has been a rail travel service agent since the company was set-up and after a tendering process in December last year, was chosen as the authorised agent for the YTSK scheme.
Talking about travel trends in the domestic segment, Paithankar said, “With summer holidays underway we are seeing demand for destinations like Simla, Kulu, Manali, Nainital, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Bengaluru, Mysore, and Ooty. For the October-February period, Kerala remains a favourite choice. We are also receiving inquiries for Rajasthan for the winter break.”
An ETAA member since five years, Paithankar said the Association offers many opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing. “The regular update about visa policies has been beneficial to us,” he added.
