SCR and ECOR Womens Welfare Organisations conduct ‘Well Baby Shows’

Lallaguda लालागुडा (LGD): South Central Railway Womens Welfare Organisation (SCRWWO) organised a ‘Well Baby Show’ at Central Railway Hospital, Lallaguda, Secunderabad today i.e., 12th April 2014. Smt. B. Jayanthi Mallya, Secretary, Smt. Renu Gupta, Joint Treasurer, Smt. Arunima Gupta and Smt. Vidya Sahu, Executive Committee Members, SCRWWO were present.
47 Toddlers took part in the “Well Baby Show” which saw a keen competition. Baby Kushi, daughter of Shri Kranti Singh was adjudged first in 6 months to 1 year category, Baby N.S. Sujajwala, daughter of Shri Sriraman was adjudged first in 1 year to 2 year category and Baby Mithali, daughter of Shri K. Manoj was adjudged first in 2 year to 3 year category.
A team of two child specialists (Pediatricians) examined the babies according to age group for their nutritional status, general health growth pattern, immunisation status and family welfare status of parents to decide upon the first, second and third winners. Apart from these, prizes were given in different group for ‘well dressed’ and ‘social active’ babies.

Smt Surya Kumari, mother of Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway distributed the prizes. Smt. Arunima Gupta, Executive Committee Member said that the show was organised with an aim to educate the parents about proper health, nutrition habits for the children and adoption of family planning.

On East Coast Railway too

Bhubaneshwar भुबनेश्वर  (BBS):  A “Healthy Baby Contest” was organized by Medical Department of East Coast Railway in co-ordination with the East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO). The aim of the programme was to create awareness amongst parents regarding Health & Hygiene of Children, immunization, prevention of childhood diseases and family planning among Railway employees.

An audio-visual show o­n health issues in children was greatly appreciated as it was very educative in nature. Also, an interactive Quiz show was organized among parents. Babies were evaluated by an expert team and prizes were given away by Smt. Shalini Vishnoi, President, East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation.

Dr. P. Khapre, Chief Medical Director & Dr. D. K. Sendha, Medical Director attended the programme which was co-ordinated by Dr. R. K. Mahapatra, Paediatrics Specialist.
