SECUNDERABAD: Ministry of Railways has awarded most prominent “Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant” Shield to South Central Railway for registering overall best performance among all Zones of Indian Railways. This shield was instituted in the year 1988 in the memory of Late Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant on the occasion of his birth centenary.
The performance of all the Zonal Railways during the year is assessed by comparing with the targets/best performance during the last year based on different parameters such as Goods Loading & Revenue, Ticket Checking, Passenger Earnings, Punctuality of Trains, Passenger Traffic, Cutback in consequential train accidents & Public Complaints, Capacity utilization of repair workshops, Energy consumption, Utilization of Motive Power, Operating Ratio, Economy in manpower, Lessening of Signal/Telecom equipment failure, Progress of track renewals, Performance of Track Machines, Timely completion of major works, Decrease in Rail Failures, Scrap disposal etc.
The Zonal Railway which secures the maximum marks on these will be adjudged as the best Railway and is awarded the shield. During the last Financial Year, SCR has registered overall best performance in all areas such as increase in freight loading, number of passengers, Energy & Water conservation, transformation measures and implementation of innovations on the working system led to securing maximum marks among all the Zones. This shield is being presented by Hon’ble Minister of Railways during the 63rd National Railway Week Celebrations to be held at Bhopal and Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, SCR is going to receive the award.
