Seven NCR railway stations get adarsh tag

ALLAHABAD: Union ministry of Railways has decided to include 70 more railway stations, including seven in North Central Railway, in the category of adarsh stations. The decision has been taken with the aim of augmenting passenger amenities. Railway Board’s director, traffic (commercial) SK Ahirwar has through a letter informed general managers of zonal railways about the decision and the railway stations included in it. Initially, the adarsh station list had 980 stations, with the addition of these 70 stations, the number of adarsh railway stations has gone up to 1050. The stations at which the work of improving the passenger amenities would be undertaken in 2013-14 in the NCR include Bhuteshwar, Dabra, Gwalior, Khulpahar, Roora and Vidharbha Road.

The stations of Northern Railway included in list of Adarsh stations include Amroha, Anand Sahib, Bani, Bareta, Bareilly, Bhatinda, Bijnor, Chanpur Siar, Dera Baba Nanak, Doiwala, Jais, Jaunpur City, Karnal, Khanna, Musafir Khana, Palwal, Rajpur and Shamli. The Adarsh stations will have all the basic facilities such as adequate toilets, drinking water, waiting rooms and catering services with These stations will also have dormitories especially for women passengers, and better signages. The focus will also be on improvement in all areas like ticketing, circulating area, signages, easy access and exit and adequate lighting at the station.
