Belonging to Indian Railway Mechanical Engineering Services (IRSME), he joined the Railways in 1985. He completed B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and M.E. in Metallurgy Engineering. After serving various railway divisions in different capacities, he had previously worked as Chief Mechanical Engineer/Bio Diesel in the Indian Railways Organisation for Alternate Fuels (IROAF), New Delhi and has also served in Western, South Western, Southern, Northern, South East Central Railways and Diesel Locomotive Works in various capacities, according to a release. He held the position from 2012 before he was posted as the DRM of Salem Railway Division.
Railway sources said that he has been giving importance for the promotion of green energy, use of liquefied natural gas and generating oil from wastes. Officials hinted that promoting those technologies here would help Salem Division retain its status of topping Southern Railways in energy conservation.
He is the fourth Divisional Railway Manager (DM) of the division that was formed in 2007. He has succeeded Sujatha Jayaraj who was the DM of Salem Railway Division from November 2011. Railway officials said that she is awaiting orders for her next posting. Earlier, Ms.Sujatha Jayaraj inaugurated a new railway ticket booking counter on the Divisional Office premises. Mr. Shubhranshu issued the first ticket to Ms. Sujatha Jayaraj. The counter was dedicated exclusively for railway department employees. An official said that about 1,000 employees will benefit from the new counter, which was a long pending demand of the employees.
