Siemens inks Iran Railway infrastructure deal

Iran, Germany’s Siemens sign cooperation document.

Tehran: German industrial group Siemens has signed key agreements with Iran for development of the country’s railway infrastructure, said a report. The document was signed on the sidelines of a meeting between Mohsen Pour Seyed Aghaei, managing director of Iranian Railways, and Siemens trade delegation in Tehran.

As per the agreement, the global technology powerhouse will help Iran in the electrification project of Tehran-Mashhad railroad besides the construction of Tehran-Isfahan high-speed railway and providing maintenance of 500 passenger cars as well as updating railway systems of the Islamic Republic.

Under this deal, Siemens will also take steps to transfer technology to Iran though selected Iranian partners, it added.
