‘Sir Alec’ Heritage Steam Loco gets Added Grace; Special Affects to Simulate a Loco on Run

Secunderabad: “Sir Alec”, the Heritage Steam Locomotive gracing the frontage of the Headquarters of South Central Railway, Rail Nilayam at Secunderabad has always been an attraction which catches the eyes of the public who pass this arterial through fare connecting Sangeet X Roads and Mettuguda/Tarnaka.

On the initiative of Shri Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, South Central Railway who drew up plans to beautify the Heritage Loco and make it attractive, “Sir Alec” steam locomotive has been given a makeover.

The Heritage Loco has been beautified with Poly Urethane (PU) painting besides adding a dash of colour lighting. The main attraction, which is bound to catch the attention of the public, is the special effects of artificial Steam and Smoke generation and Loco running sound system provided to the Loco to generate artificial simulated condition of a Steam Loco on run. The Heritage Loco is planned to be showcased with the artificial stimulated condition in the evenings from sun set till 22.00hrs each day.

“Sir Alec” Steam Loco, built in the year 1907 by Kitson & Co, Leeds was a prized possession of the Barsi Light Railway Narrow Guage system.
