Southern Railway Celebrates 72nd Independence Day

CHENNAI: Southern Railway celebrated 72nd Independence Day with fanfare today (15.08.2018) at the RPF Parade Grounds, Perambur, Chennai.  Shri R.K.Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway hoisted the National Flag in the presence of Shri Birendra Kumar, Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Principal Heads of Departments,  other officers and staff of  Southern Railway and accepted the Guard of Honour by the RPF contingents.  A colourful cultural event followed.

While addressing the gathering, General Manager recalled the great sacrifices by Martyrs who had laid down their lives in India’s  quest for freedom.  He expressed that the celebrations   will evoke patriotic fervour in the hearts and minds of the youth and children. He motivated the staff  to rededicate themselves to the nation’s progress by contributing effectively to nation building.  The General Manager highlighted the achievements of the zone during the current year in his keynote address.

72nd Independence Day was celebrated all over Southern Railway with patriotic fervour.  A large number of staff and their families enthusiastically participated in the events.
