VARANASI: Railway Board member (mechanical) Keshav Chandra dedicated a special dual cab WDP4D locomotive at Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) to nation on Saturday. The 4,500 high horse power cab equipped with modern features and air-condition was being sent to Tughlaqabad diesel shed.
Chandra appreciated the performance of DLW and said that it had performed outstandingly among all production units of the Indian Railways. DLW general manager BP Khare highlighted the activities and achievements of different departments and said that during the recently concluded financial year, DLW manufactured 294 locomotives including 231 high horse power ones. In marketing sector, DLW exported three locomotives to Sri Lanka and 10 to Bangladesh. The unit also supplied 43 locomotives to non-railway customers. Chief mechanical engineer Rakesh Vatas also addressed the function.
Chandra also held a meeting with departmental heads to discuss about the production of locomotives. Later, he met office-bearers of DLW Karmachari Parishad.
