Kochi: In a move which could delay the construction of the Kochi Metro viaduct near the Ernakulam Junction station premises, the railways has sought more compensation from the KMRL in lieu of the railway land which will be handed over to the Kochi metro project.“ Initially, we had decided to construct the Kochi Metro Operation Control Centre at Ernakulam South. “The alignment for the extension of the metro to Fort Kochi was planned through South. For this, we had required at least 13,000 sqm of land for the project. However, now there is a change of plans and we have stated that we only need 4300 sqm of land. The railways are not agreeing to this,” KMRL officials said. Southern Railways General Manager Rakesh Mishra said the Centre would take a call regarding this.
