Suburban Services on Trans-harbour line suspended as Track Relaying Train machine brakes down

Mumbai: Services on the Trans harbour line corridor has been suspended after a Track Relaying Train (TRT) machine broke down on Thursday morning.

Trans harbour services operate between Thane and Panvel. The trains services were suspended since 5.40 am.

Central Railway spokesperson said, “TRT machine broke down between Thane and Airoli stations. Trans harbour line passengers are permitted to travel via harbour line by interchanging trains at Kurla to travel to Navi Mumbai and vice versa.

He further said that services between Thane-Vashi may resume by 9 am but CR is running shuttle services between Nerul to Panvel until Trans harbour line is restored.

A large number of commuters from Thane- Karjat-Kasara belt, Mulund, Nahur and Bhandup stations use Trans harbour corridor to travel to Navi Mumbai.

Since services have been suspended on Trans harbour overcrowding has been reported on CR’s main line corridor as commuters are traveling to and from Navi Mumbai-Panvel by interchanging trains at Kurla.
