We are gearing up all possible help, though darkness and water logging are creating hurdles. But, we will not spare any efforts. We have rushed emergency medical and other relief personnel to the spot: said Railway Minister in a statement
“According to reports, there was a possible burst in a nearby dam which caused sudden flow of water on the tracks and that resulted in the derailment,” Railway Board Chairman AK Mittal told.
“We will call for an inquiry into the incidents and will also take remedial measures to prevent such incidents in future,” he said.
“The accident relief train has reached the spot and several passengers have been brought to a nearby station,” Mr Sinha added.
Railways on Wednesday announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs to the next of the kin of the deceased while Rs 50,000 will be awarded to grievously injured and 25,000 for minor injuries.
The derailment took place near Khirkiya and Harda station on Machak river.
