BJP leader Cheruvu Ramakotaiah said that the agitations for creation of a separate Railway Zone is on for the last one decade. He said that a Railway Zone Sadana Committee that has been formed a couple of years ago had no meaning if the issue is not taken to the streets of Delhi. He said that the people had high hopes on Narendra Modi and Chandrababu Naidu Governments on the issue.
South Coast Railway or South East Coast Railway?
It was also urged by TDP MPs that instead of naming the new zone as South Coast Railway, it can be examined to name it as South East Coast Railway. They claimed that South Coast Railway may not be a suitable name since Southern Railway is also operational from Chennai and beyond deep south and it will also conflict with the already existing SCR zone in the abbreviation. MPs urged that the new name for the Railway Zone can be declared as South East Coast Railway (SECoR).
