Indian Express: During a surprise visit at a ticket reservation centre at Surat railway station on Tuesday, Western Railway’s Area Regional Manager R A Mirza was shocked when he was stopped by a tout and asked, “Saab kahan jaoge, confirm ticket dunga”. Mirza immediately called the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and got the tout arrested. The tout was later identified as Dinesh Joshi, a resident of Kosad in Surat. Joshi is one of the seven railway touts booked by RPF in 2013 so far. In 2012, there were 32 cases against railway touts, while in 2011, about 26 similar cases were filed. “Touts for train tickets are a nuisance across the country. As I was alone, the tout might have thought I was a passenger looking for a ticket. We have instructed RPF to keep a tab on such touts,” Mirza said. However, RPF in Vadodara has registered just one case against touts in 2013 so far, while Ahmedabad has registered 11 cases this year, sources said.
