Kochi: The stalemate in transporting a consignment of rails meant for Kochi metro from the port to international stadium over the issue of nokku kooli was resolved following talks on Thursday.
Workers of a trade union demanding nokku kooli delayed the transportation of 3,200 tonnes of rails, which were shipped from France, to the stadium. Only 500 tonnes could be moved to the stadium.
“Representatives of Tata Steel and the trade union held talks and resolved the issue. Eight workers of the union have been deployed for loading the rails on to 18-metre-long trailer lorries, though the task has to be carried out with precision by machines,” metro sources said.
IRCON will begin transporting the rails from the stadium to work sites only after the whole consignment is stacked at the stadium, they added.
