Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya asks Telangana, L&T to iron out differences

Hyderabad: Urging the state government, Larsen & Tubro and Hyderabad Metro Rail to sort out their differences over alignment, Union minister of state for labour Bandaru Dattatreya stated that they must complete the project soon.

After inspecting the Metro Rail’s Uppal Depot on Saturday morning, Mr Dattatreya stated that the project was world class and it must be completed soon so that the city gets the tag of ‘universal city’.
He said, “If required I will speak to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and ensure that there are no delays. The completion of this project will bring more investments to Hyderabad and make it the most sought-after city.”
HMR managing director N.V.S. Reddy said there was no chance of inaugurating the Metro Rail this year. The date of the inauguration will be decided by the Chief Minister, he said.
“The government wants the Metro Rail benefit to be experienced by a large section of the people. It is not possible this year but maybe early next year,” he said.
The issue of employment opportunities at HMR has become a bone of contention between some agencies and L&T. While L&T has outsourced the employment to another agency, it is very strict about meeting the norms. Mr Dattatreya urged that local youth must be given employment opportunities so that there will be overall growth of the region.
