SECUNDERABAD: Velagapalli Varaprasad Rao, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Tirupati met Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, SCR on 20th June, 2018 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad and discussed on rail developmental issues in the region under his constituency.
The discussions centered on the modernization plans for Tirupati Railway station which is set to be taken up for integrated development / redevelopment to match International standards. The process for commencing the work which is estimated to cost Rs. 491 crore is under way. The plans include construction of an 8 – storied new railway station building incorporating the most modern standards in terms of providing various facilities. These include a hotel block, multi-plex, railway station plaza, food courts, exclusive departure concourse, drop off zone, waiting lounges etc.
Construction of a sub-way at Rayalacheruvu (Level Crossing Gate No. 104) in Tirupati also figured in the meeting. The need for taking up the work for this sub-way which is the crucial connecting link between south and north of Tirupati at an early date was stressed by Hon’ble MP. Consent from the state government is awaited. Undertaking works for sub-ways to eliminate four more existing level crossings in Tirupati area (Level Crossing No’s. 106, 107, 108 & 109) also centered as a part of the discussions during the meeting.
The Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Tirupati requested the General Manager, SCR for prioritizing completion of core rail developmental works in and around his constituency, Tirupati early. The General Manager assured that he will see consent from State Government where ever needed and ensure that rail developmental works proceed with required pace. This will enable the pilgrim city cope up with the ever increasing rail traffic from various parts of the country, besides meeting the expectations of the people of the city with regard to improvement in civic infrastructure.
