Nagpur: Two MPs from the region have demanded shifting of South East Central Railway (SECR) general manager Satyendra Kumar alleging he was being callous. This may be a rare case of MPs demanding action against a top railway official.
Letters were written by BJP MP from Gondia-Bhandara Nana Patole and Shiv Sena MP from Amravati Anandrao Adsul. Both confirmed having writing to railway minister Suresh Prabhu demanding action against SECR GM.
In his letter to Prabhu last month, Patole even lodged a complaint against Arjun Sibbal, divisional commercial manager (coordination), Nagpur, alleging misbehaviour. “Sibbal first ignored my calls and then feigned ignorance about me,” states Patole.
He also stated SECR GM habitually ignored and misbehaved with public representatives and was arrogant. The MP demanded immediate shifting of Kumar, if not suspension, and initiation of inquiry against him.
Adsul also stated in his complaint that last month a series of raids were conducted by CBI against senior SECR officers. A couple of them were also arrested on graft charges. “Without going into the merit of these cases, it can be concluded that the administration under Kumar has collapsed. Earlier, serious complaints forwarded against the GM and a DRM from Raipur have not been addressed,” said Adsul demanding action against the GM and his immediate transfer.
DCM Sibbal refused to comment saying he had not seen the letters. Darshnita B Ahluwalia, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of SECR, Bilaspur, said, these complaints had not been received by the zonal office. “Yet, let me tell you that SECR GM Kumar is very compassionate, cordial and competent. There are no complaints against him from people or public representatives,” Ahluwalia said.
On DCM Sibbal, the CPRO said there was some misunderstanding as the official might be busy in meetings and hence did not respond to the calls from unknown numbers, may be from these MPs. He has apologized for the goof up, she said. The GM has also asked Sibbal to deal with public representatives cordially, Ahluwalia said.
Sources close to Adsul said the officials did not reply promptly even on people-centric issues like setting up of PRS centres and Tata Nagar passenger, Amravati-Mumbai & Amravati-Jabalpur Express, to be specific.
