Western Railway Employees Union holds protests at Vadodara railway division

VADODARA: The Western Railway Employees Union (WREU) held protests at the Vadodara division headquarters against the move by the Vadodara division officials to cancel the process of giving appointments to kin of persons in the safety category who took voluntary retirement. The appointments were to be given under the largesse scheme.

WREU divisional secretary Santosh Pawar stated in a release that the administration had decided to cancel the entire process and start the entire process afresh. Pawar stated that besides this there was also a delay in appointments of kin of 30 railwaymen on compassionate grounds.

The other issues raised by WREU include that of interdivision and zone transfers of employees and delay in giving awards to 100 railwaymen for accident free services. Pawar added that there was also a delay in giving ex gratia payments to families of 26 railway employees. The WREU also protested against the delay in filling up of vacancies and surrendering of posts. It also raised the issue of improper implementation of duty rosters.
