World Railways’ Table Tennis Championship: Indian Railways bags Gold

AIRTTKolkata: Indian Railways bagged gold medal in both men’s and women’s sections in the World Railways’ Table Tennis Championship – 2016 held at Berlin, Germany between October 17 and 22, 2016. A total of 19 teams participated in the men’s section and there were 12 womens teams.

The Indian Railways Men’s Team was represented by Anirban Nandi (South Eastern Railway), Ravindra Kotiyan (Western Railway), Pankaj Vishwakarma (Western Railway) and E Prabakaran (Southern Railway) and the women’s team comprised of Anindita Chakraborty (South Eastern Railway), Shreya Ghosh (Metro Railway) and Takeme Sarkar (Northeast Frontier Railway).

In the individual events, the Men’s Singles title was bagged by Anirban Nandi while the Women’s Singles title was won by Anindita Chakraborty. Both of them belong to South Eastern Railway. Anirban Nandi and E Prabakaran also won gold in the Men’s Doubles event while Anindita Chakraborty and Shreya Ghosh won gold in the Women’s Doubles. The Mixed Doubles gold was bagged by Anirban Nandi and Shreya Ghosh.
